Bullet Resistant Glass For Sale
Bullet resistant glass is available in all bullet-resistance levels, sizes and formats, our security glass offers highest-possible levels of protection while blending in seamlessly with the architecture and aesthetics of your building. If you’re thinking about how much does bullet resistant glass cost, so keep in view that gone are the days when protective glazing needed to be thick and tinted layers. We offer transparent bullet resistant glass which is distortion-free, all at competitive prices. In addition to security, the type we offer of bullet resistant glass for sale, provides a layer for excellent insulation, soundproofing and filtering of UV rays.
How Does Bullet Resistant Glass Work?
The bullet resistant glass greatly differs from ordinary glass and is made from multiple layers of high-strength glass. The layers of glass are accompanied by interlayers of plastics or other materials to counteract the damage caused by bullets or other projectiles. In addition to this, there’s also a plastic final layer whose purpose is to prevent the spalling of glass upon breakage. The sandwich of layers in the bullet glass is often referred to as laminated and had been used extensively for breaking down the speed of the projectile & minimizing the damage. The panes of glass can weigh up to 10 times more than the ordinary panes of glass and the heaviness indicates high strength
Ballistic Glass Defined:
The correct terms to use are “ballistic glass” or “bullet-resistant glass,” NOT “bulletproof glass.” There are different Levels of protection for Ballistic Glass and Different types of
Ballistic Glass are rated to withstand impacts from bullets of different calibers and velocities (URL Ratings), but this does not mean that the rounds will just bounce off and fall away harmlessly to the ground. Ballistic Glass is designed to absorb the round into the Glass and disperse the energy.
We often refer to one glass type when we talk about ballistic windows as an “all-glass laminate.” This type of glass consists of several laminated glass layers that can protect against forced entry, rioters, stray bullets, and active shooters, depending on the overall thickness and strength. There are several alternative types of ballistic glass and all-glass laminates, including but not limited to, glass-clad polycarbonate and laminated polycarbonate. Cost, weight, durability requirements, and protection levels are all determining factors in choosing the best materials for your project.
Depending on the rating of a specific glass model, it may be able to stop one or several bullets. Again, this depends on many factors, including the caliber, velocity, and grain (weight) of the projectiles. High-powered ammunition may have no trouble piercing many types of ballistic grade glass.
After the first round impacts a sheet of bullet-resistant glass, it will significantly diminish in strength with each subsequent impact. Eventually, even the most robust glass can become compromised and no longer provide a protective security barrier.
HOW IS NON-BALLISTIC WINDOW GLASS DIFFERENT?
There are many types of glass that are not bullet resistant, from the standard annealed or plate glass window glass you might find in a home or business to the tempered or laminated safety glass commonly used in areas where added strength is needed for a myriad of reasons. Non-ballistic just means that it offers ZERO protection against firearm projectiles.
In other words, if a non-ballistic window gets hit by one bullet, it will likely shatter and may fall from the framing. Certain safety and security glasses are stronger than standard window glass and are designed to be less dangerous when they break, but they are no match for a bullet of any caliber.
Characteristics of non-ballistic windows:
- Do not provide any protection against firearm rounds
- Allow all bullets to pass through and shatter right away after being shot
- Certain types can protect against different types of impacts, but not bullets
- Will not have any ballistic rating listed in the product description.

Ratings of Bullet Resistant Glass as identified by:
UL 752
- Level 1: Refers to bullet resistant glass able to withstand fire from small caliber handguns. It must be able to resist a minimum of three 9mm FMJs traveling at a minimum velocity of 1,175 feet per second (f/s)
- Level 2: Defines bullet resistant glass designed to withstand fire from larger caliber handguns. It must withstand at least three shots of .357 magnum soft points traveling at a velocity of 1,250f/s.
- Level 3: Refers to bullet resistant glass that can withstand a minimum of three shots of .44 magnum rounds at a velocity of 1350f/s.
- Level 4: Represents a step-up in terms of ballistics resistance. It defines bullet resistant glass that can withstand at least one shot from a .30 caliber rifle with a minimum velocity of 2540f/s.
- Level 5: Covers bulletproof glass designated to withstand at least one 7.62mm rifle FMJ with a velocity of at least 2750f/s.
- Level 6: Is a direct improvement on Level 1, designed to withstand at least five 9mm rounds traveling at an elevated minimum velocity of 1400f/s.
- Level 7: Defines bullet resistant glass designed to withstand multiple hits with 5.56 rifle FMJs with a minimum velocity of 3080f/s.
- Level 8: Designates the highest level of protection available in bullet resistant glass. This level is tested to withstand at least five shots from a 7.62mm rifle.
